Quick picks

From manufacturer specs

  1. 01 · Light commuter with a range claim

    Tenways CGO600 Pro

37 lb, up to 53 miles, a magnetic torque sensor, and a portable battery. Watts, torque, and tire size are not on the US page. Some sizes were in stock at $1,599.

Best for: The commute is real, you can store a full-size bike, and you want the lightest weight that still prints a range.

Skip it if: You need a published watt figure, a fold, or a size that was already unavailable. Belt builds were sold out.

  2. 02 · Lightest weight

    Fiido Air

30.3 lb, 250W, 35 Nm called a peak, 208.8Wh, and a Gates belt. Range is not a single published figure. It does not fold. $1,979.

Best for: Stairs or a shoulder carry matter more than battery size, and the ride is short enough that 208.8Wh is acceptable.

Skip it if: You need a published range, a step-through, or a commute long enough that a small battery is the risk.

    $1,979$3,079

  3. 03 · Light and cheap, short range

    Fiido D3 Pro

38.1 lb, $549, 250W, 35 Nm, up to 20.5 miles, and a folding stem. The frame does not fold. Tires are 14 by 2.125 inch.

Best for: The trip is under 20 miles, the budget is tight, and a mini bike with a stem fold is enough.

Skip it if: You need a full-size wheel, a range past 20 miles, or a frame that folds.

A lightweight commuter is a published weight you can lift, and a battery or range line that can cover the trip. A 30 pound bike with a tiny battery is a different tool from a 37 pound bike that claims 53 miles. A 70 pound folder can be a good commuter and still fail this page.

This is the best lightweight commuter e-bikes shortlist from Fiido and Tenways on October 16, 2026. The table is the Tenways CGO600 Pro, the Fiido Air, and the Fiido D3 Pro. Engwe's current folders are cited below as the weight to beat, and they do not beat it. We have not ridden any of them.

Hills, payload, and a fold are different questions. Those are the steep-hills guide, the heavy-rider guide, and the folding guide. Prices under $1,000 are the under $1,000 guide.

What "light" has to include

Bike weight. Tenways prints 37 pounds for the CGO600 Pro. Fiido prints 30.3 pounds for the Air and 38.1 pounds for the D3 Pro. Engwe prints 68.3 pounds for the L20 2.0 and 76.1 pounds for the L20 3.0. We did not add a lock.

Battery or range. The Air's battery is 208.8 watt-hours, and the page does not give one range number. The D3 Pro claims up to 20.5 miles from 280.8 watt-hours. The CGO600 Pro claims up to 53 miles and does not print watt-hours. A light bike with a short claim is a short commute.

What the page does not say. The CGO600 Pro does not publish watts, torque, tire size, or payload. Those cells stay blank. The Air does not fold. The D3 Pro folds the stem, not the frame.

Tenways CGO600 Pro

The Tenways CGO600 Pro (opens in a new tab) chain builds were $1,599 on October 16, 2026, against a $1,899 compare-at price. Sky Blue M and Pebble Grey M were in stock. The other chain sizes on the variant list, and every belt build at $1,899, were unavailable. Check stock before you treat $1,599 as a cart total.

The US page says 37 pounds, up to 53 miles, a rear hub, a magnetic torque sensor, and a portable battery. Drivetrain is a Shimano 8-speed chain or a Gates carbon belt single-speed. Size M is labeled for 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 11 inches. L and XL exist, and those height bands were not in the block we copied, so rider height stays blank.

Watts, torque, watt-hours, tire size, payload, and class are not on that page. The page does not describe a fold. This is the light commuter with a range claim. It is the wrong bike if the closet needs a fold or you need a watt figure in writing.

Fiido Air

The Fiido Air (opens in a new tab) was $1,979, from $3,079. Sizes M, L, and XL were in stock. M is 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 9 inches, L is 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet 3 inches, and XL is 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 9 inches. Net weight is 30.3 pounds. The FAQ says 30.31 pounds with the battery. The motor line on the feature list is 35 Nm peak torque and a 250W brushless motor. The spec block names the drive unit Mivice M070 250W. Payload is 264 pounds. Tires are 700 by 40C. The drivetrain is a Gates CDN belt. Brakes are hydraulic discs. It does not fold.

Claimed range is not a single published figure, so the table leaves it blank. A filter tag that says 70 to 100 km is a bucket, not a spec. The battery is 208.8 watt-hours. That is the limit on this bike. Thirty pounds is the lightest Fiido weight we found on the US store. It is a poor match for a long commute.

The FAQ says top speed is 15.5 mph. A class number is not in the spec block.

Fiido D3 Pro

The Fiido D3 Pro (opens in a new tab) standard build was $549, from $659. Black and White were in stock. The Urban Edition was $599. Net weight is 38.1 pounds. The motor is a 250W integrated-wheel hub. The feature list adds 35 Nm. The battery is 280.8 watt-hours. Claimed range is up to 20.5 miles. Payload is 264 pounds. Tires are 14 by 2.125 inch. Gearing is a single 52 tooth ring and a 12 tooth cog. Brakes are mechanical discs. Rider height is 4 feet 11 inches to 6 feet 1 inch. The stem folds. The frame does not. The FAQ says top speed is 15.5 mph.

This is the budget row on a weight page. It is also the first cheap bike in the under $1,000 guide. Do not plan a 15 mile round trip on a 20.5 mile claim and hope the footnote is generous.

Weights that miss this list

The Engwe L20 2.0 (opens in a new tab) was $699 and in stock in three colors. It is a folding step-through with a 750W rated hub, and the page says 68.3 pounds. The Engwe L20 3.0 (opens in a new tab) was $1,599 and says 76.1 pounds. Both are written up as folders and as step-throughs. Neither is a lightweight commuter.

The Tenways Wayfarer (opens in a new tab) was $1,799, from $2,199, and both colors were in stock. Full weight is 66 pounds with mudguards, kickstand, and a rear carrier. Net weight is 63 pounds without accessories. The motor line is 750W peak and 65 Nm. The battery is 720 watt-hours. Pedal-assist range is up to 85 miles. The US spec page calls it a cruiser. It does not say step-through, and it does not print a rider height. Sixty-six pounds is a comfort bike, not a light one.

Fiido's C21 page says "only 17.5 kg" in one line, "38.6 lbs" in another, and "38.5 lbs" in a third, and the address says step-over while the title says step through. Those lines do not agree, so the C21 is not in this table. The C11 and C11 Pro product descriptions do not include a spec block, so they are not here either.

Lectric, Ride1Up, Aventon, and Specialized also sell commuters people compare on weight. We are not approved to affiliate those brands. This page does not link a model we did not re-spec on October 16.

How to read the blanks

  • Tenways CGO600 Pro. Chain builds were listed at $1,599 on October 16, 2026, against a $1,899 compare-at price. Sky Blue M and Pebble Grey M were in stock. The other chain sizes on the variant list, and every belt build, were unavailable. Check current stock.
  • Tenways CGO600 Pro. The page headline says 37 lb. It does not publish watts, torque, watt-hours, tire size, payload, or a class. Those cells are blank.
  • Tenways CGO600 Pro. Size M is labeled for riders 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 11 inches. L and XL ranges were not printed in the block we copied, so rider height is blank.
  • Tenways CGO600 Pro. The page does not describe a fold. A CGO009 was not on the US Tenways catalog that day.
  • Fiido Air. Listed at $1,979, from $3,079. Sizes M, L, and XL were in stock on October 16, 2026, and still in stock at the same price on October 26, 2026.
  • Fiido Air. The feature list calls 35 Nm a peak torque on a 250W brushless motor. The spec block names the drive unit Mivice M070 250W and does not repeat torque. The product is tagged rear hub.
  • Fiido Air. Claimed range is not a single published figure, so range is blank. A filter tag on the page says 70 to 100 km, which is a bucket, not a spec.
  • Fiido Air. The bike does not fold. It is here because 30.3 lb is the lightest Fiido weight on the US store that day.
  • Fiido Air. M is listed for 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 9 inches, L for 5 feet 7 inches to 6 feet 3 inches, and XL for 6 feet 1 inch to 6 feet 9 inches.
  • Fiido D3 Pro. Standard was $549 on October 16, 2026, against a $659 compare-at price. Black and White were in stock. The Urban Edition on the same page was $599.
  • Fiido D3 Pro. The feature list says the stem folds. It does not say the frame folds, and folded dimensions are not published.
  • Fiido D3 Pro. Torque of 35 Nm is on the feature list. The spec block says a 250W integrated-wheel motor and does not repeat the torque figure.
  • Fiido D3 Pro. Payload is 264 lb on the spec list and 264.6 lb on the feature list. The table uses 264.
  • Fiido D3 Pro. The spec list says the throttle's max speed is 6 km/h. That reads as a walk-assist limit. A Class 1, 2, or 3 label is not in the spec block.

A dash means the figure was not published. The Tenways row is mostly dashes because the US page did not print those specs.

How to choose without a test ride

Write down the commute in miles before the weight. If the trip is short and the stairs are the problem, the Air at 30.3 pounds is the lightest number, and 208.8 watt-hours is the constraint. If you want a range claim with a weight still under 40 pounds, the CGO600 Pro says 37 pounds and up to 53 miles, and you have to accept the missing watts and the sizes that were already gone. If the budget is $549 and 20.5 miles is enough, the D3 Pro is the light cheap bike, on 14 inch wheels.

A 68 pound Engwe can still be the right commuter. It is the wrong answer to "lightweight." The folding guide is where those weights belong. A step-through that is allowed to weigh more than 40 pounds is the city commuter guide. The Air's belt, and the belt bikes that were sold out, are the belt-drive guide. The Air XL height, up to 6 feet 9 inches, is the tall-rider guide. The lightweight commuters hub is this page.

Accessories

A light commuter still needs a helmet, a lock, and lights. The U-lock below is the longer shackle. The rack bag fits a Topeak MTX rack only.

What we are not saying

These are the current US listings with a published weight under about 40 pounds, not every light e-bike on the market. A light bike with a small battery is not a better commuter than a heavier bike with a larger one. We are not ranking by commission. Tenways and Fiido are the approved programs on this page. The order is a published range at a low weight, then the lightest weight, then the cheap short-range bike.

Spec sources

Every number in the table comes from one of these manufacturer pages. Retailer and review sites were not used as spec sources.

Questions

What counts as a lightweight commuter e-bike?

A weight the brand printed, plus a range or battery line you can plan a commute around. In this guide the Fiido Air is 30.3 pounds, the Tenways CGO600 Pro is 37 pounds, and the Fiido D3 Pro is 38.1 pounds. Engwe's L20 2.0 is 68.3 pounds and the L20 3.0 is 76.1 pounds. Those are commuters. They are not light.

Is the Tenways CGO600 Pro the lightest bike here?

No. The Fiido Air is 30.3 pounds, lighter than the CGO600 Pro's 37 pounds. The Air's battery is 208.8 watt-hours and the page does not publish one range figure. The CGO600 Pro claims up to 53 miles and does not publish watts or watt-hours. Lightest weight and most useful commute are not the same pick.

Does the Tenways Wayfarer belong on a lightweight list?

No. The US spec page lists a net weight of 63 pounds without accessories and a full weight of 66 pounds with mudguards, kickstand, and a rear carrier. It was $1,799 and in stock on October 16, 2026. It is a cruiser with a 720 watt-hour battery, not a lightweight commuter.

Were these bikes test ridden?

No. The eBike Research team has not ridden them. Every figure is from the brand's own page on October 16, 2026. If a number was missing, the table leaves it blank.
